The Nouvelle Connection (The NC): What is your definition of success?

Dossé-Via (DV): Always living out your truth, no matter how unconventional it may seem. Success is letting love lead the way in everything that you do.

The NC: What daily habits/life hacks are paramount to you?

DV: I love starting my day with gratitude, and water. Being aware of all of my blessings, big or small, always seems to attract even more my way. One of my favorite blessings is the way my daughter waves at me in the morning and says “bye bye” as my husband gets ready to bring her to daycare. She lights up my day and helps motivate me to be productive.

The NC: 5 things you recommend for women looking to pursue their passions?

DV:

  • 1. There’s only so much planning you can do before you have to just take the leap and go for it. Don’t let your fear of failure or perfectionism hold you back from living the life of your dreams.
  • 2. Focus on your own journey. There is countless advice to get to where you need to go, but ultimately your gut knows best.
  • 3. Self-care is the foundation to a successful, passionate life. Replace the need to always be grinding, with a desire to always have an internal sense of zen. Prioritize your spiritual, physical and emotional health.
  • 4. Be willing to experiment, and leave things behind if they no longer serve you. You’re constantly changing and evolving, so let your passions change too.
  • 5. Prioritize your passions. It’s not enough to dream or talk about it. Follow through with consistency and the results will follow.

The NC: Best advice you can give for a woman juggling a busy schedule (i.e. being a mother, a wife, having your own business, and being a model!)

DV: Breathe. Literally let your breath lead the way, even if you have a long to-do list in front of you. Imagine that your responsibilities are a steep staircase, or a valley you have to climb. Yes, it may seem intimidating or too much at first, but step by step, you’ll get there. I also recommend weeding out nonessentials during your journey. Be honest about the habits, people, mindsets or situations in your life that are a distraction or an impediment to you. Be willing to eliminate them so that you can focus on what matters most. Being a mom, model and entrepreneur has helped me realize my priorities, and has allowed me to strategize accordingly and create harmony. Everything changes from day-to-day, though. I try to not categorize different aspects of my perceived identity, but rather integrate them and view myself as a multi-faceted, versatile human being. That takes a lot of the pressure off and allows me to focus on showing up and investing my best day by day.

The NC: What has been key in your journey?

DV: Listening to my intuition. I have become more in tune with what I desire, and the type of energy I seek. I’ve learned to be the energy that I want to receive, and to trust myself more. This helps eliminate confusion about what my next step is. The path simply presents itself to me, and I start realizing that I am my own path.

The NC: How has your career/life path changed along the way?

DV: As an astrologer, I love studying the cycles of the planets and its influence on us. My career therefore changes along with the planetary energy in the cosmos. I’ve gone from periods of being scared to raise my prices to periods of boldly stepping into the limelight and sharing my services with joy. I’m emerging from having an online business to truly embodying my brand. Modeling has helped me with that, and so has motherhood. I’m determined to create the life of my dreams for myself and my family, and that means not being afraid to share my talents and receive the rewards of my labors of love.

The NC: What advice would you have for young women today?

DV: Own your power. Let your light shine. The world needs it more than ever, and you’d be doing us all a disservice to hide your magic. You were born to live a life of adventure, expansion, and abundance. But you have to become clear about what that means to you. Take time to explore yourself, your interests, your motivations, your fears, your insecurities. Learn from it all, grow from it all, and then invest that knowledge into carving your own unique path — one that will inspire us all.
